Macy’s has announced that the Thanksgiving Day Parade will once again be a live event, with balloons parading through the city to the midtown store.
“We are thrilled to welcome back in its full form the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade,” Mayor de Blasio said.
The city hasn’t yet said where public viewing will be allowed, and the overall staff at the parade is likely to be cut by 10% to 20% (normally 8,000 people are involved). Participants in the parade will have to be vaccinated and masked.
As for the inflation event, which normally takes place on Wednesday night ahead of Thursday’s parade, that’s still up in the air. The city expects to announce more details in November.
“Details on the exact public viewing locations including viewing maps, entry guidelines and restrictions will be announced in November. Spectators are encouraged to check macys.com/parade in advance of their travel to the Parade route.”
