7 Cool Uses of Glyph Interface on Nothing Phone 2 - Beebom

kembaliui.blogspot.com

The much-awaited Nothing Phone 2 is finally here, and the phone retains a major highlight of its predecessor, the “Glyph Interface.” With Nothing Phone 2, the company has upped its game in terms of Glyph lights. Nothing has revamped the Glyph Interface along the back side with 11 separate LED strips. And along with the visual improvements, Nothing has added several new functionalities to use the glyph LEDs onboard. After using the Nothing Phone 2 for a week, I have compiled this guide detailing all the cool uses of the Glyph Interface to make the best out of those LEDs.

Use Glyph Interface as a Timer

If you are concerned about your increased screen time or love to use a Pomodoro timer, the new Glyph Interface on the Nothing Phone 2 is just perfect for you. The new Glyph interface allows you to use the LEDs as a countdown timer, so you won’t have to keep looking at the screen.

This way, you can set a countdown timer for when you don’t want to use the phone. Once the timer is set, flip the phone and rest it face down. Now, you will see the right side Glyph LED strip turn on and slowly start fading with each passing second.

Create Custom Ringtones with Glyph Composer

Just like how the glyph works each time you receive a call or notification, you can now create your own ringtones and glyph patterns using the new Glyph Composer. Just open the Glyph Composer, and you will see five different pads, each triggering a different glyph interface light and sound combination. And when you think you are ready, hit the record button and let the artist inside you flourish to create your very own sequences.

Nothing OS 2.0 also includes a sound pack from the EDM act Swedish House Mafia. The company has collaborated with Swedish House Mafia to give users a chance to remix their sounds and create an assortment of cool tunes.

Third-Party App Integration with Glyph LEDs

Since the launch of Nothing Phone 1, multiple users have been demanding third-party app support for the Glyph Interface to make things more fun and accessible. And with the release of Nothing Phone 2, we finally get third-party app support with the new Glyph Interface.

Currently, the integration is only available with the Uber app, where the Glyph works as a progress tracker for your upcoming ride. What I mean is that you can see the glyph light indicates your driver’s arrival at your pickup point. Nothing also confirmed its partnership with Indian food delivery service Zomato for a similar integration.

Use Glyph Interface As a Torch

The Glyph Interface on the Nothing Phone 1 was able to act as a flashlight with the camera app open, but with the Nothing Phone 2, you can use the Glyph lights as an actual torch. Simply open the notification center on the Nothing phone 2 and long press the Torch tile, and see the Glyph Interface will light up instead of the camera flash.

Volume Level Indicator

Similar to the battery level indicator when your phone is plugged in, you can set up glyph LEDs to work as a volume level indicator. Once set up, press the volume buttons and the Glyph LED strip on the right will glow to indicate the current volume.

New Essential Glyph Notifications

While the silent mode on phones helps us avoid distractions, there are instances where we can miss out on calls and notifications from an important contact. The Glyph Interface on the Nothing Phone 2 solves this problem with the essential notification feature.

When whitelisted contacts or apps send you a notification, the Glyph interface lights up and keeps shining until you check it. You can also enable the Flip to Glyph feature to get light-only notifications whenever you place the phone face down.

Other Glyph Interface Features

Like the Nothing Phone 1, the Glyph LED strip at the bottom of the Nothing Phone 2 also acts as a charging indicator. Every time you plug in your phone and give it a little shake, the bottom glyph LED strip shows a visual representation of the battery level. Moreover, this strip will now also light up when you activate the Google Assitant from the lockscreen.
