EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon dominated for the second straight match to win its fourth in a row with a 6-1 victory over Eastern Washington on Saturday at the Student Tennis Center.
The four-match winning streak is the Ducks' first since the 2018 season while making it four years in a row that Oregon has won its first four home matches of the dual season.
How it Happened: Once again, Oregon built a 1-0 lead behind a win in doubles. Rifanty Kahfiani and Uxia Martinez Moral were behind 2-1 at the No. 1 spot, but won five of the next six games to win 6-3. Myah Petchey and Allison Mulville clinched the point on court No. 3, controlling their match from start to finish in a 6-2 victory.
Singles play was more of the same story, with the Ducks winning five of the six matches in straight sets. Janice Tjen stayed perfect on the season, making quick work of her opponent at the No. 1 spot with a 6-1, 6-0 win to make it 2-0, Ducks. Ares Teixido Garcia cruised to a win on court No. 5 with a 6-1, 6-1 victory, and Kahfiani provided the clincher at the No. 3 spot behind a 6-3, 6-2 win.
Mould made it 5-0 with a 6-4, 6-1 win on court No. 2, and Martinez Moral put up the final point of the day for the Ducks with a 6-4, 6-2 win, coming back from down 3-2 in the opening set before a comfortable set two win. Madisen Olsen dropped a tight opening set after leading 4-3 at one point, but ultimately fell in her match, 6-4, 6-0.
