The company announced on Monday, March 27, that Teams users could expect a revamped app that is up to two times faster than the current version, with functions like launching the programme and connecting to video calls. The revamped Teams application also claims smoother scrolling and no placeholder assets.
Teams, according to Microsoft, are now two times faster than it was previously while using only half the system resources. According to Microsoft in a blog post, they have made a ground-up investment to revamp the platform to improve the network, chat, footage and data architecture for speed and performance.
Additionally, the company has attempted to make the UI cleaner and simple. Microsoft claims to have improved its synchronization, notification, and authentication models. It will enable users to stay on top of notifications, oversee messages or search for data more easily along with organising channels.
Threaded conversations, customizable group chats, and interactive emojis have also been added. The company has also improved its pre-join experience, gallery view and screen-sharing capabilities. The canvas colour has been changed from grey to white, and the signature purple Teams colour has been muted.
As previously stated, Microsoft Teams will require 50% less memory.
Microsoft Teams is also working to improve the AI experience, with features, such as an intelligent recap and Copilot for Microsoft Teams. It will keep users up to date on what they missed before joining a call. Joining meetings and shifting between chats and channels will be 1.7 times faster.
