If there’s any such thing as an industry standard for audio interfaces in the modern era, Universal Audio’s Apollo line would surely be it. Now they’ve launched their most accessible model yet, the Apollo Solo.

Though not a completely fresh idea (it is cut from the same cloth as their recent Arrow interface) this time, there is a USB version for Windows machines. Just like Arrow, it works with a Thunderbolt 3 bus-powered connection for Mac.UA Apollo Solo

With the Apollo Solo, Universal Audio has made this famous family of interfaces more accessible than ever. Based on the Arrow, it’s compatible with Windows via USB.

As befitting the Solo’s desktop status, it’s a no-frills affair. Facing the front are quarter-inch jack inputs for headphones and guitar, while on the back are two mic/line combi inputs and two quarter-inch outputs for the main monitor feed.

On the front panel are buttons for input selection and the stereo linking of those inputs, high-pass filter, phantom power, pad and phase-flipping, plus the big knob for controlling input and monitoring levels.

The big drawcard — as with any other Apollo product — is the access to the industry-leading family of classic emulations. It ships with the Realtime Analog Classics Bundle, which includes the UA 610-B preamp, LA-2A and 1176 compressors, Pultec EQ, Marshall and Ampeg amps and more.
