IC test interface vendor CHPT sees impressive growth for January-July sales

IC test interface solutions provider Chunghwa Precision Test Tech (CHPT) saw its revenues for the first seven months of 2020 jump 44.7% on year to NT$2.343 billion (US$79.69 million) thanks to robust demand from vendors of 5G SoCs, RF and other chips, according to industry sources.
Having landed the majority of test interface orders for MediaTek's 5G SoCs, CHPT has been busy fulfilling shipments in line with the chipmaker's efforts to expand presence in the China market for sub-6GHz 5G handset APs, the sources said.
As China's Huawei/HiSilicon is reportedly to source medium- and high-end handset APs from MediaTek, CHPT and its local peers Keystone Microtech and MPI are all poised to embrace extra business opportunities from the Taiwanese chip vendor, the sources said.
CHPT is also working with Qualcomm developing test interfaces for mmWave mobile APs, AiP modules, and RF chipsets, the sources said. The company is expected to gain sustained growth momentum from Qualcomm's comprehensive deployments in midrange and high-tier 5G chips technology, the sources noted.
CHPT has also grabbed a major portion of test interface orders for 5nm APs for new iPhones, adding growth momentum to its second-half 2020 results, the sources continued.
Maintaining close partnerships with Taiwan's leading foundry and US system makers, CHPT is expected to become the world's main supplier of test interface solutions for ARM-based processors, the sources added.
But CHPT declined to comment on matters concerning clients and orders.
