Samsung announced that its SmartThings software for mobile and desktop has been updated with a new interface that is easier to use, has improved performance, and has faster load times. Samsung has promised a seamless transition from the old interface, and users have said it will be much easier to control their IoT devices. The new interface colors are brighter and brighter than the previous ones.

Jaeyeon Jung, Corporate Vice President of Samsung Electronics, said:

The new interface is available for Android devices today, and iOS will follow soon, the company said. This update follows SmartThings’ recently announced Windows application.

There are now 5 sections in all

The new SmartThings design has five sections: Favorites, Devices, Life, Automation, and Menus.

An overview of the new section, Samsung said:

The Life section gives you access to new SmartThings services such as SmartThings Cooking.

The automation section connects all smart devices and allows them to work together to meet specific conditions in the home, such as opening and closing doors and turning on lights.

The menu section has additional features such as SmartThings Labs, notifications, history and settings.

SmartThings has grown into one of the most powerful cloud-based smart home platforms.
