Microsoft recently announced that it will be redesigning the Teams app with a new user interface that focuses on speed and simplicity. The tech giant started rolling out the revamped Teams preview for those part of the Public Preview Program, but it looks like it is now available to everyone. Here we will take a quick look at some of the new changes and features the new version of Teams has to offer.
Channel navigation made easy
Microsoft Teams developers seem to have redesigned the channel experience, which was hard to navigate until now. One of the major changes is that the post and reply section now resides on the top of the app.
Microsoft Loop integration
Similar to Teams, Microsoft Loop is a collaboration tool that was launched last month. It contains three elements – loop components, loop pages and loop workspaces. The tech giant has integrated the new app into Teams chats so that users can directly work on a loop component without having to leave the app.
Updated Meeting experience
It looks like the stage and presenter view has also been updated to improve the overall meeting experience. Users will now be able to see meeting participants while presenting.
New design
Microsoft has updated the Teams app with what it calls ‘materials like Windows 11 Mica’. While the canvas colour has changed from grey to white, the app’s purple colour has been dialled down a bit.
The company also added support for theming to the new chat experience alongside the ability to group profile pictures. You also get new emojis and backgrounds.
