Hey guys
I don't normally post these because I'm generally able to diagnose any PC issues I have by myself, but this one has been completely stumping me.
Its a little hard to explain, but basically I'm having issues interacting with any sort of interface on my PC. It starts usually a couple seconds or minutes after I log on, and can be temporarily remedied by locking and unlocking my computer (with windows key+L).
When the issues begin, I am mostly unable to interact with any applications I may have open (generally discord, chrome, etc.), however video games seem to retain full functionality (i.e. I can play overwatch with no problem).
I cannot click or interact with any windows (i.e., minimize, maximize, close buttons). It does not even register the mouse when it goes over them (i.e. they dont light up to signify the presence of the mouse). I cannot interact with the task in many ways (i.e. clicking icons). I cannot switch window focus by clicking on a different window.
Additionally, when I initially boot my PC, it brings me to a screen which allows me to choose between Windows 10 and Windows Setup. When i click either option, nothing happens. I have to highlight it with the mouse and press enter to choose the windows 10 partition.
Right now, chrome is allowing me to enter textboxs, but not switch between or close tabs. (although they do highlight when I click them, but again, nothing happens on the actual page).
I've tried a couple things to remedy the issue:
- Ran virus scans with Malwarebytes and HitmanPro - no results.
- Restarting my computer
- ran sfc /scannow in cmd prompt
- Unplugging and re-plugging in my mouse
- uninstalling and reinstalling mouse drivers
and I am fairly sure this is a software issue, not a hardware one.
Really stumped and hoping you guys may have some useful information to point me in the right direction
working on recording a video to better explain, if needed.
Thanks in advance for any help,
dacheezta
