Road closed in Wilder: Landslide covers Ky. 9 again - The Cincinnati Enquirer

kembaliui.blogspot.com

It's been less than a year since a storm triggered a mudslide on Ky. 9 in Campbell County that closed the thoroughfare for about a month.

On Tuesday evening, the four-lane highway in Campbell County was again covered in hillside in the area across from Bobby Mackey's Music World in the 100 block of Ky. 9 in Wilder, Kentucky, near its border with Newport.

That's the same area as the 2019 slide.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 6 Department of Highways' Facebook page says the mudslide has crossed over all the lanes.

"We will assess as soon as weather allows," the post says.

The area will remain closed until further notice, said Nancy Wood, a spokeswoman for District 6

About 8,000 vehicles normally travel the road daily where the landslide happened in Wilder, according to the KYTC website. A new extension of the highway from Wilder to Newport's riverfront near Downtown Cincinnati was opened to traffic in October 2018.

The Enquirer will update this story as more information becomes available.
