Budda Bak3r Changing Number - Again - AZCardinals.com

When the NFL officially approved the possibility of many more players eligible to wear single digits last month, there were many wondering if there were any Cardinals that might swap what they were wearing. Would Isaiah Simmons swap his No. 48? (Although Simmons wore No. 11 in college, and no one is ever wearing that again for the Cards once Larry Fitzgerald is done.) Might DeAndre Hopkins choose to go from No. 10 to No. 6, which he wore in college (D-Hop has posted some photoshops on social media of him in No. 6, so we will see.)

But Budda Baker? Baker wore No. 36 as a rookie, and after Tyrann Mathieu left, Baker was able to get back his college number of 32.That was a big deal, because Baker had to buy up his No. 36 jerseys out for sale to make such a change. With all that, another Baker change didn't seem likely.

Turns out it was not only likely, Baker indeed has done it, according to Baker himself.

Baker too had already hinted he might, via social media. But then Sunday morning, sixth-round draft pick cornerback Tay Gowan tweeted out he was wearing No. 32. That was only possible if Baker was switching, and then Baker confirmed it later Sunday afternoon.

"Birdgang, I love you, don't hate me. 3rd times the charm. #literally" Baker tweeted.

The Cardinals still haven't officially announced most of the new player numbers this offseason. We know J.J. Watt is wearing No. 99. A.J. Green should get No. 18, given that it is attached to practice-squad receiver Krishawn Hogan. But post-draft, there were still 31 of the 85 guys on the roster who didn't officially have numbers yet. That will change soon.

Meanwhile, Baker is the first Cardinal who couldn't wear single digits to now wear a single digit. It'll take some getting used to. That isn't Carson Palmer out there.
